Can you engrave brass with a laser?

Yes. Our fibre laser engraves brass with fine detail. We can leave a bright mark, a darker contrast mark, or engrave deep enough to fill with black or coloured paint.

Will engraved brass tarnish?

Brass and copper naturally tarnish over time. The engraving stays, but the surface darkens. A clear lacquer slows this down, and the piece can be polished without losing the engraving.

Can you engrave copper?

Yes. Copper engraves well on our 60W MOPA fibre laser. It is a popular choice for seventh anniversary gifts, mugs and decorative pieces.

Can you add paint infill to an engraved brass plaque?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We engrave deep enough to take black, red or green paint infill for a traditional plate look, and can add fixing holes so it is ready to mount.

How do you look after an engraved brass plaque?

Accepted Answer

Indoors, an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is enough. Outdoors, choose a lacquered plaque, or polish unlacquered brass with brass polish every few months; the engraving and paint infill are not affected.
