Can you laser engrave in colour?

Yes, on stainless steel and titanium. Our MOPA fibre laser grows coloured oxide tones on the metal surface, so designs come out in gold, bronze, purple, blue and teal without any ink.

How does colour laser engraving work?

The MOPA fibre laser heats the steel surface to a precise temperature, which grows a very thin oxide layer. The thickness of that layer decides which colour you see, the same effect as the colours on heat-treated steel. No ink, paint or coating is used.

What colours can you engrave on stainless steel?

Gold, straw, bronze, copper, purple, blue and teal are the most reliable, plus black and frosted white. Red and green tones are possible but softer. We test on your steel before engraving.

Can you match my exact brand colour?

Accepted Answer

Not exactly. Laser colours are metal tones, not printed inks, so they can get close to golds and blues but not a precise Pantone. We will show you a test so you can decide.

Is colour engraving permanent?

The colour is part of the steel surface and will not peel or flake. It is best hand washed, as abrasive cleaning pads and harsh dishwasher detergents can dull it over time.

Can you colour engrave aluminium or brass?

No. Colour engraving works on stainless steel and titanium. For colour on aluminium we engrave through coloured anodising instead.
