Are 3D and 4D plates road legal in Ireland?

We supply them as show plates only. Plates used on a public road in Ireland must meet the statutory rules for background, font, spacing and format.

What is the difference between 3D and 4D plates?

Both terms describe raised characters standing proud of the plate. We make them one way: solid 3mm black acrylic characters with flat tops and sharp polished edges, bonded onto a white gloss base.

How thick are the raised characters?

3mm, and only 3mm. Deeper characters fall outside the Irish number plate specification, so we do not make them.

What sizes do you make?

Standard car 520 x 110mm, short and square formats for imports and 4x4s, and smaller bike plates. Custom sizes are cut to order.

How are the characters attached?

Each character is laser cut, cleaned and bonded onto the base with a permanent industrial adhesive made for acrylic, with no gap and no lifting edge.

How do I fix the plate on?

We can pre-drill fixing holes to your positions, or leave the face clean for double-sided number plate pads.

Most plates are ready in 2 to 4 working days. Collect in Dublin 12 by appointment or we post nationwide.
